On the north side of Aly Mpamba, in a forest of beech and pine trees, at an altitude of 1600m. is the ski center of Lailia, a creation of the Hellenic Mountaineering Association (EOS) of Serres. It is twenty-seven (27) kilometers from the city of Serres, and the road that connects it to the city is asphalted and is cleared of snow daily, during the periods of snowfall. It has a basic ski track with a total length of one thousand (1000)m. and 60m wide. which is served by a sliding ski lift, 850m long, which can transport seven hundred (700) people per hour. Recently, this lift was extended by another 200m, so that it reaches the top of the mountain (altitude 1850m). There is another small sliding lift, 200m long for beginners. Ski equipment rentals are available at the start of the track for unorganized amateurs. For beginners, there are private ski schools in the ski center, taught by experienced instructors. With lighting installed on the track, it is also suitable for night skiing. The view of the skiers, on the illuminated track, in the beech and fir forest, is fantastic. At the end of the ski slope there is and operates a very nice modern ski pavilion -SALE-, with a restaurant, refreshment room and dormitories, which has central heating. it is also offered for night skiing.
