In southern Pelion, in Lafko Magnesia, the "Antonis Tavanis" Radio Museum is located. It is housed in a stone two-story mansion from 1890, which the painter Magda Karastathi donated for 7 years to the Cultural Association of Lafkos "i Drasi". The Museum was inaugurated in 2008 with the help of the Municipality of Athens and hosts the Radio Collection of the German professor of mechanical engineering and philellenic Wilfried Shoeps. It is the first Radio Museum in Greece and bears the name of the architect and sculptor Antonis Tavanis. The Museum exhibits about 120 radios (from 1917 to 1960), from the 1200 in the Collection (which change every four months), informative, photographic material and period posters. Most of the radios are in excellent condition and operate on various frequencies.
