In the old port are the old Transit Warehouses built in 1834-1839 at state expense, plans by I.B. Erlacher and under the supervision of Wilhelm von Weiler. The building has a total length of 122 m and is divided into two wings. Since the interwar period, the Warehouses had ceased to perform their original function.
Thus, in 1994, the Cyclades Art Gallery was created in four warehouses in the south wing, which hosts periodic exhibitions and its own collections (entrance from the back of the building).
