The M. Vamvakari Museum was founded in 1995 in an old residence in the center of Ano Syros, which was restored in order to house the personal belongings of the great troubadour, who was born in Ano Syros in 1905 and spent the first years of his life there.
Mark's friends will find in the museum his photos and old memorabilia, his passport and ID, his clothes and shoes, handwritten texts and poems, his ring and watch and other personal items given by his family to be exhibited in the museum that bears his name. In fact, since the year 2000, the Municipality of Ano Syros organizes a folk music festival in his memory every summer, entitled "Musical Routes.. on the streets of Markos", which is always a great success.
