The Paleontological Museum was created around 1965. In 1995 it was relocated to new building facilities, while the Natural History department was also housed in it. It is one of the most important attractions of Samos, since the fossils housed in the museum belong to animals that lived on the island, and in particular in the area of the village of Mytilinioi, 8 to 10 million years ago.
