The IM of Faneromeni is located after Diros on the main road to Gerolimena, between Areopolis and Gerolimena, near the village of Fragoulia or Fragoulianika, i.e. in the center of the settlements of Mesa Mani.
The katholikon, i.e. the church of the monastery, is dedicated to Panagia Faneromeni.
In terms of its architectural type, it is single-bay, tiled roof with blind arches and draperies, it was built in the year 1079 by the archmason Georgios with the sponsorship of the monk Nikonos and the layman Thalos from the neighboring village of Kouskouni, as testified by the engraved marble inscription of the temple icon .
The first renovation of the church took place in the 12th century with the addition of a porch above the entrance of the church with a tiled roof.
In the years 1322-1323 during the reign of Emperor Andronikos Palaiologos of Constantinople, a radical renovation of the temple took place under the names of the priests mentioned in the preserved second commemorative inscription, who are characterized as owners and owners.
The temple of Faneromeni Dryalos is a great architectural monument with very interesting frescoes from the Palaeologian Era.
Today the monastery of Faneromeni functions as a women's monastery.
