ACCORDING TO TRADITION, IT WAS FOUNDED IN 961, BY THE SAINT EUGENIOS, HERMAN OF SAINT ATHANASIUS, WHO IN THE SAME YEAR BUILT MAGISTA LAURA, THE MONASTERY OF THE HOLY MOUNTAIN OF THE SAME NAME.

NORTHWEST OF KALAVRYTON, BUILT ON A STEEP STEEP ROCK (940 M.), IS THE MONASTERY OF MAGELOS SPILAIO, ONE OF THE LARGEST AND MOST HISTORICAL MONASTERIES OF THE PELOPONNIS. ACCORDING TO TRADITION, IT WAS FOUNDED IN THE SECOND HALF OF THE 4TH CENTURY. THE VIEW OF THE EIGHT-STOREY MONASTERY CAPTURES THE VISITORS. HER CATHOLIC, A TEMPLE OF A CRUCUS INSCRIBED WITH TWO SPLITS, IS CUT INTO THE ROCK. THE TEMPLE PRESERVES THE 1653 WALL PAINTINGS, VALUABLE MARBLE INSTALLATIONS ON THE FLOOR AND A CARVED ITEM. IN THE MONASTERY THE ICON OF THE VIRGIN OF THE INFANT, KNOWN AS "SPELIOTISSA" ATTRIBUTED TO THE EVANGELIST LUKA, IS KEPT. IT IS MADE OF WAX AND MASTICH, WHILE SLIGHTLY DEFORMED BY THE MONASTERY FIRES.

HOLY MONASTERY OF SAINT JOHN THE THEOLOGIAN, CHORIO VERINO, (AT AN ALTITUDE OF 800 M.) OF THE MUNICIPALITY OF SIMPOLITIA, THERE IS A FEMALE CONVENT. IT WAS PROBABLY FOUNDED IN THE 14TH CENTURY. ON JULY 17, 1827, THE MONASTERY WAS BEIJED BY THE EGYPTIAN INVADER IBRAHIM, WHO, AFTER AN ALL-DAY FIGHT AND AFTER LOSING 350 SOLDIERS, CAPTURED THE MONASTERY, WITHOUT DESTROYING IT. IN THE CATHEDRAL OF THE MONASTERY, AN OLD BYZANTINE TECHNOTROPY WALL PAINTING, A SILVER CASE AND HOLY RELICS ARE SAVED. CELEBRATES SEPTEMBER 26 AND MAY 8.

SAINT NICHOLAS SPATON, IT IS A BYZANTINE TEMPLE WHOSE ARCHITECTURAL PLAN IS A FREE CROSS WITH A LATER SPLIT
THE MONASTERY OF THE HOLY TRINITY IS LOCATED A SHORT DISTANCE FROM AKRATA (3 KM. SOUTHWEST OF THE CITY) AND IS BUILT IN A BEAUTIFUL LOCATION. TO GET THERE, YOU WILL FOLLOW A SHORT ROAD OF THE AKRATA - ZAROUCHLAS PROVINCIAL ROAD. ORIGINALLY THE MONASTERY HAD ANOTHER LOCATION WITH A TEMPLE IN HONOR OF ALL THE SAINTS. THE MONASTERY WAS ERECTED IN 1706 AND SANCTIFIED IN 1751. AT A DISTANCE OF 140 M. NORTHWEST OF THE FIRST MONASTERY, A NEW MONASTERY BEGAN TO BE BUILT, DEDICATED TO THE HOLY TRINITY. THE CATHOLIC IS A MONOCLITE BASILICA AND INSIDE ARE KEPT HOLY RELICS, HOLY GOSPEL DATING FROM 1672, PENTECOSTAL OF 1800 AND BOOKS OF RELIGIOUS CONTENT. THE INVASION OF THE TURKS DID NOT AFFECT THE MONASTERY IN 1821. IN 1952 IT WAS CONVERTED INTO A FEMALE MONASTERY AND A GUEST HOUSE WITH 17 BEDS WAS BUILT. TODAY, THE METOCHI OF MONASTERY OF HOLY TRINITY IS THE HISTORIC MONASTERY OF KATAFYGIA, WHICH IS LOCATED IN CHALKIANIKA.
