The monastery of Agia Triada was built in 1865 and dominates the plain of Edessa, next to the archaeological site. Part of the building material used is from the walls of the ancient city and from Roman inscribed altars. The monastery was built on the ruins of an older church, which had been destroyed since the early years of the Turkish occupation.
The construction of the monastery was done at the expense of the inhabitants of the city (guilds and individuals), while the monastery later acquired a large fortune from donations. In 1942 his property was lost and it functions as a nunnery to this day.
The church is a three-aisled three-niche basilica. The elevated middle aisle has three polygonal domes, a number that symbolizes the Holy Trinity. The iconostasis of the 19th century and the built-in tombstones from Roman times are considered noteworthy.
