The Patriarchal and Crusader Monastery of the Holy Trinity of Tzagaroli is one of the most important monastic complexes of the end of the Venetian period in Crete with a rich contribution to the History and Education of the island. It is located at the foot of the Stavros mountain range, in the "Zombomylos" location of the Melecha cape. According to the tradition confirmed by documents from the archives of Venice, it was built by the brothers Jeremiah and Lavrentio Tzagaroulos who came from a great Venetian Cretan family and had a strong influence on both the Orthodox population and the Catholic Venetians.
