The epithet Catholic refers to the "universal" acceptance of the person of the Virgin Mary. The building complex consists of the church of Panagia Katholiki, the courtyard and a building probably for hosting visitors. The church is single-aisled, vaulted and has above the entrance a full-length icon of the Virgin Mary with the inscription "Mother of God, Virgin Mary". The painting of the icon as well as the frescoes inside the church is recent. It is possibly an old calendar church.
