THERMAL SPRINGS

The area of Smokovo, at the southern end of the Prefecture, has a distinct natural beauty, but also precious thermal waters. In the summer months in the village of Smokovo there are thermal baths, "hidden" in a small green valley, overgrown with oaks and broad-leaved plane trees, which attract visitors from all over Greece. Also of interest are the Kaitsa Baths, east of Ktemeni. The thermo-metallic springs of Smokovo, in particular, have been operating since the years of the Turkish occupation (17th century) and are equipped with modern facilities, able to respond to any situation. The springs, with the sulfur-alkaline composition of their thermal waters and with a temperature ranging from 29 to 40, are considered ideal for the treatment of many diseases (respiratory and digestive system, skin diseases, rheumatism, etc.), thus ranking Smokovo Baths among the most important Greek spa towns. Here, the natural environment, combined with the healing properties of the waters and the various services offered, provide visitors with the possibility not only of relaxation, but also of rest and entertainment.
