Meganissi is one of the numerous islands in the Lefkada region. With an area exceeding 22,000 square kilometers, it is one of the largest islands in the region, along with Kalamos. The islands have three separate settlements with the settlement of Katomeri as its headquarters. At the same time, Meganisi also owns the legendary Skorpios Island, which was bought by the shipowner Onassis in 1963 and is still in the possession of the Onassis family. In fact, even later during the Second World War, the island once again played the role of a hideout for the historic Papanikolis submarine, which had been hidden in a cave on the island, since then the cave took its name. It is now one of the main attractions of the place as well as a historical monument for the whole of Greece.
