DANCE & SONG
From the villages of Karysto, self-taught instrumentalists were born who created dance songs. The lyre, the tsabuna and the tambourine were the main instruments. Later the lute and violin were added. The leaves of the ivy, the maidenhair tree and the lemon tree also make the sound of a trumpet and a clarinet, when they are masterfully played by the local musicians. The most famous dance, a monument of our island tradition, is the Cavadoritiko or cross. Other dances are the Mylonian and the Karistian ballos.

At the end of every August, the Wine Festival takes place on the beach of Karystos, where visitors can taste plenty of local wine, taste fresh fish and have fun to their heart's content
