CASTLE OF GLYPPIA

On a small hill between the villages of Agios Vassilis and Platanaki of Kynouria, a medieval tower and remains of fortified castle walls are preserved. It is assumed that the castle belonged to a Frankish ruler of the region, and was used to control it.
The ancient city of Glyppia and its citadel are located in the area. Testimony to its existence are scattered remains, such as fragments of pottery and ancient vessels, as well as part of an ancient statue at the entrance of the adjacent church of Paleopanagia.
