AKOVA CASTLE

One of the most important baronies of the medieval era was the barony of Acova. The Frankish castle of Akova (13th century), located between the villages of Byziki and Galata, near Tropaia, was the seat of a Frankish barony. The castle is built on a rocky hill. Remains of the outer walls of the castle are preserved as well as some of its towers.
It is also called Monobyza's or Kyra's castle and was named after the Amazonian Franciscan who ruled it.
