On the plateau of the top of the hill of Goritsa (height 200 m.), at the eastern end of the gulf of Volos, large sections of the wall with semicircular towers of a fortified settlement from the Hellenistic times, perhaps a Macedonian military establishment (350 - 250 BC) are very well preserved.
