On the slope of Mount Aphrodisi, at a distance of 4 km from Kontovazaina and next to the road that connects it with Neo Paos in the Prefecture of Achaia, the ruins of the ancient sanctuary of Aphrodite Erykini are preserved. In ancient times this sanctuary was an important center of worship as well as an oracle of the area.
The temple was excavated by the archaeologist Ch. Kardara and brought to light the crypt, a part of the foundation of a large temple, within the nave the foundation of a smaller later temple, a Hierophylakio or treasure in a monolith, as well as a water conveyance system for group baths.
It is believed that the temple was an important cult center for the entire region in ancient times.
