East of Krinides, on the N. side of Egnatia Odos, near a spring, one comes across the monument of the Roman officer C. Vibius Quartus, known in the popular language as "Magalo Pithari" or Dikili Tas and as "the cradle of Vukefala". In Dikili Tas, a settlement of piled huts of the Middle Neolithic and Early Bronze Age (6th - 3rd millennium BC) was uncovered, which was repopulated during the Late Bronze Age (1300-1100 BC). Many movable finds: vases with two-tone written and incised decoration, anthropomorphic figurines and tools. Finds are exhibited in the Archaeological Museums of Philippi and Kavala.
