In Agia Thekla, on the cape of Agios Ioannis, a vaulted tomb from the Mycenaean period (13th century BC) was discovered and excavated, which included many vases, weapons and jewelry among its offerings. The finding of the tomb indicates the influence of the Mycenaean civilization on the island.
