The proto-Cycladic acropolis of Markiani, fortified with a strong wall and reinforcing towers, which reflects the heyday of the island during this period (2,400-2,300 BC). The finds from the excavations are exhibited in the Archaeological Collection of Chora, while many of the statuettes of monumental dimensions (e.g. "Arsenikoudi") and the local variations (Dokathismata, Kapsalas) are in the Museum of Cycladic Art.
