It is colonized by the Dorians. It developed especially in the Hellenistic and Roman times. Its ruins to the W. of today's village of Agioi Deka, on both sides of the road from Heraklion to Moires. In the 7th century BC goes back to the temple of Athena on its acropolis, on which it was built in the 6th century. A.D. Christian basilica. Adjacent public building 2nd c. A.D. known as the Castle. The wall of the acropolis belongs to the 7th century BC. Settlement of the geometric years. The temple of Apollo Pythios in the lower town, 8th - 7th century. BC, with modifications in the Hellenistic and Roman eras. The infrastructure of theaters, remains of thermal baths, aqueduct, amphitheatre, hippodrome (2nd - 6th century AD) are also preserved. The finds in the Archaeological Museum of Heraklion and in the local Archaeological Collection. Geometric period houses on Prophet Elias hill.

Religious metropolis of Crete since the 4th century. A.D. until the Arab conquest (early 9th century). The imposing dome-shaped cruciform basilica of Agios Titos (end of the 6th century), ruins of a two-aisled building of unknown use (5th - 6th centuries) and a three-aisled church (5th century), possibly the Martyrdom of the Ten Saints who were martyred on Decius (250 - 251). A mosaic floor of exceptional art from an older building and architectural members were found in the area of ​​the triangle. In the Mavropapa place, an early Christian basilica dating from an inscription in the 5th century. In the village of Agioi Deka, remains of an early Christian basilica integrated into the Byzantine church of the Ten Martyrs. In the Agricultural School, ruins of a quadrangular building and a narrow arched building were found. Early Christian basilica on the site of the temple of Apollo Pythia and, further north, remains of another basilica, completely damaged. East of the archaeological site remains of a building, probably from the 6th century.
