Kymi
Nineteen bronze talents from the Mycenaean era (15th - 13th centuries BC) are an accidental marine find off the coast of Kymi. Pure copper talents were a stable medium of trade during the Late Bronze Age in the Eastern Mediterranean (Athens Numismatic Museum). A very important settlement of the Geometric period (9th - 8th century BC) has been excavated at the site of Viglatouri Kymi, which must be related to ancient Kymi. An oval sanctuary ("house") with rich ceramic findings (circa 750 BC) and other remains of buildings around it, as well as traces of a road, were discovered. The classical and Hellenistic Kymi (4th - early 1st century BC) is located on the hill of Kastri Ano Potamia, where there is also a medieval castle. At the top, remains of a fortified enclosure, houses and tanks (3rd - 2nd century BC) were found. Well-preserved strong wall (4th century BC) in Dragonara, near the village of Vrysi; parts of fortifications scattered throughout the area of today's Kymi. Architectural remains at the sites of Paleokastri and Ptelea are identified with temples of the 4th century BC.
