The temple of Atavyrios Zeus was probably built in the Hellenistic period. The legend attributes it to Althaimenis from Crete, son of Katreas. References to the temple are made by Diodorus the Sicilian and Pindar. Today there are ruins enclosed in a wall of boulders.
