Aphids

In the area near the ancient acropolis, a mound of the Middle Helladic era (2000 - 1600 BC) was located with box-shaped tombs, pits and burial pithos.

The hill that rises north of the marsh of Marathon, on the Kapandritiou-Barnavas road, at a relatively short distance from Ramnoudas and the sea, was called Afidnai and on its top there are few remains of a classical fortress (4th century BC) with a tower. On the slopes of the hill are visible the foundations of houses built in mud.
