Megali Prespa is divided between Greece, FYROM, and Albania. Mikri Prespa is located mainly in Greece, while a small part to its west belongs to Albania.
The Prespa National Park was created in 1974 and is protected by Greek, European and international conventions. Lake Mikri Prespa is also protected by the Ramsar Convention as a unique wetland.
