CHORA

CHORA - Schoinoussa

The settlement of Chora is built on a hill, in the interior of the island and is 1.2 km from the port. In earlier years the island had suffered many disasters from pirate raids. Thus, the inhabitants built the village of Panagia, as they call the town after the church of Panagia Akathi, on a hill to have visibility towards the sea. The houses are built with the typical Cycladic architecture.
