Achillio is the palace located in the village of Gastouri in Corfu and is a special ornament for the island, as a result it attracts a lot of people. It was built at the end of the 19th century by the queen of the Austro-Hungarian empire Elizabeth, known as Sissy, who, fascinated by the beauties of Corfu and by Greek mythology, wanted to have her own personal retreat on the Ionian island. The palace is neoclassical, majestic and imposing. It contains numerous statues depicting figures from Greek mythology, which surround the interior and exterior decoration of the palace. Inside the palace, the murals by famous artists of the time, with their intense colors, arouse the admiration of the visitor.
