The all-white picturesque church of Panagia Krimniotissa is located north of the beach of Pachia Ammos on the southern side of Samothraki. The church is built on top of a steep rock. Tradition tells that during the period of the Iconoclasm (726-843 AD), the miraculous icon of the Virgin Mary was found in the bay of Pachia Ammos by shepherds, who built the church in her honor where the icon of the Virgin is housed.
