The city of Kalymnos or Pothia is the capital and port of the island, and is considered one of the most beautiful and picturesque capitals of the Dodecanese.
It is built amphitheatrically on the slope of a rocky mountain and its main feature is the bright colors with which the houses of the settlement are painted.
