The construction of the Archaeological Museum of Komotini was completed in 1976 with plans by the architect Aris Konstantinidis. In the presentation of the exhibits, a combination of topographical and chronological arrangement was made. Findings from regions of Thrace from the prehistoric to the Byzantine era are presented.
The visitor has the opportunity to admire works of art, weapons, objects from all over Thrace and from the prehistoric period to the Byzantine years. A huge map, posted inside the museum, directly opposite the entrance, gives the first information about the archaeological sites of the area. Also, texts, photos and drawings that accompany the exhibits, inform about the objects on display, their dating, their significance, etc.
