The Natural History Museum of Alexandroupoli (MFIA) has been built in a beautiful and green area of Platanotopos of Maistro (Eastern settlement of Alexandroupoli). It is a modern building fully in harmony with the natural environment.
The idea for the creation of the Museum started from the presence in the area of rich biotopes and protected areas. The need to present this natural wealth to the locals and visitors led to the inclusion of the project "construction of a Natural History Museum" in the Urban Pilot Program of Alexandroupolis, as one of its main aspects and to the construction of the museum in its current form. The criterion for choosing the specific location for the construction of the Museum was the need to develop and highlight the eastern area of Alexandroupoli, which was also one of the main objectives of the Pilot Program.
