It is located in Sykarakio, a suburb of Sparta, and specifically in a room of the building of the former Sykarakio Primary School. The Museum was financed by the Prefectural Government of Laconia and was inaugurated in 1998. It is aimed mainly at children, but it will certainly be interesting to adults as well

The exhibits of the Natural History Museum of Sparta include: collections of minerals and rocks, which existed in various secondary schools and mainly the collection of embalmed birds and other animals, donated by Mr. Panagiotis Belitsos, a retired school counselor of physical education.
