The Koumandareios Pinakothica Spartis is housed in a neoclassical mansion from the beginning of our century and is a donation of Dollis Goulandris and her brother Georgios Koumandaros, in honor of their artistic father, Ioannis Koumandaros. The Commandery Gallery welcomed the public in 1982 and functions as an annex of the National Gallery.
It includes a permanent exhibition with 14 oil paintings by Western European painters (end of the 16th century to the beginning of the 20th century). It also hosts a periodical exhibition every year, which is organized by the National Gallery.
In 1996 educational programs were launched for students of all school levels. The children work with special brochures, according to their age, with the aim of getting to know modern Greek painting. At the same time, there is a Workshop, which is always connected to the type of exhibition hosted in the Gallery.
