The Museum was established as part of the excavation program of the University of California, Berkeley, thanks to the generosity of Mr. Rudolph A. Peterson.
It was donated to the Hellenic State and inaugurated in 1984.
The collections include:
- Collection of views of Nemea from travelers - visitors of the 18th and 20th centuries,
- Collection of coins of ancient visitors to Nemea,
- Collection of objects related to sports activities of Nemea,
- Prehistoric finds ( ceramics, tools, weapons, etc.) from prehistoric sites in the Nemea region,
- Collection of vases and jewelry from the Mycenaean cemetery at Aidonia and from the settlement at Agia Irini,
- Collection of architectural members of monuments of archaeological sites and other sites,
- Collection of Inscriptions (Nemeas, Flioundos, Petri).
