In Levidi, the birthplace of the politician Alexandros Papanastasiou, Prime Minister of Greece from 1924 to 1932, a small museum with photos, personal items and the rich personal archive of the pioneering democratic politician operates in the City Hall.
The photographs refer to his family life and the military and political activities of the great statesman. Personal items include items of daily use, of his office, rosaries, binoculars, jacket, cane, umbrella, etc.
The personal archive includes manuscripts, letters, scientific studies and writings, speeches and articles, as well as other texts of political, social and economic content, written in Greek and German. The museum also houses his personal library (2,000 volumes). The museum was founded in 1976, it is temporarily housed in the basement of the Levidi Town Hall, while it will soon be relocated to the house of A. Papanastasiou (old town hall) which is under renovation.
