(Vas. Olgas - Fil. Nikoglou Avenue). It is housed in a magnificent mansion, known as the "Old Government", built in 1905 with designs by Eli Modiano. After the liberation of the city (1912) it was bought by the municipality of Thessaloniki and offered to be used as a "Government". The building was one of the many mansions (towers) of the "Exochon" area of Eastern Thessaloniki, it is a typical example of architecture that was influenced by the French school and Art Nouveau.
The museum exhibits approximately 8,000 objects of daily use, household utensils, furniture, models of traditional Macedonian architecture houses, clothing, jewelry, gold embroidery handicrafts, church items, silverware, ceramics and metalwork. Also valuable are photographs and collections of old documents. Of particular interest is the representation of a typical urban house of Thessaloniki from the beginning of the century.
