It is co-located with the Folklore Museum and the Natural History Museum in a four-story building (19 m. high) from 1980 located in the center of the city. The building resembles a traditional mansion made of stone, wood and iron. It is divided internally into six mezzanines that communicate with each other. It is a creation of the teacher Kon. Siabanopoulos and the Association of Letters and Arts of N. Kozani. It was officially inaugurated in 1987. The permanent exhibition consists of the archaeological-Byzantine exhibition with works from 7000 BC-1453 AD and the historical exhibition that refers to the historical course of the city from 1453 to 1944. From 1997 operates a Gallery in the new five-story wing (1993) that enriches the historical section of the Museum. It includes paintings by younger artists with themes inspired by the mythology and history of the place.
