In the Archaeological Museum of Drama, elements from the Paleolithic Age, up to the most recent years, are presented. Three rooms cover the exhibition space. In the first, archaeological finds are exhibited that describe the life of the nomadic hunters of the Middle Paleolithic Age in the cave of Pigon tou Aggitis, the permanent agricultural and pastoral Neolithic settlements and the transition to the Bronze Age. Also, the visitor is transported to the Iron Age, but also to the later years where the worship of the god Dionysus is dominant in the city of Drama, in Kali Vrysi and in other areas of the prefecture. In the second room, the architectural sculptures and ceramics give valuable information about life in Drama in the early Christian, Byzantine and post-Byzantine times. In the third hall of the museum, sculptures organized in three sections are displayed. The first includes architectural sculptures from ancient times to the Turkish occupation. The second contains votive monuments connected to the worship of various gods of the Greco-Roman pantheon and local deities, with special reference to Dionysus. The third section includes tomb monuments from Hellenistic and Roman times.
