ARCHAEOLOGICAL MUSEUM - Tinos

The Archaeological Museum of Tinos was founded in the early 1960s and is located in Chora. It contains a rich collection of household objects and vases as well as a collection of Tinos coins. Of great interest are the exhibits from pieces of the altar of the Temple of Poseidon and Amphitrite. In his collections, he also includes finds dating from the Hellenistic period to the Roman years, such as the large relief amphora, which was found in the Sanctuary of Demeter in Xoburgos and dates from the 7th BC. century and the marble sundial, from Kionia. A great structure showing solar time, equinoxes and solstices and dating from the late 2nd BC. century. Also, in the museum, the visitor can find tombstones, sculptures and ceramics.
