The Petros M. Nomikos Conference Center is located in the capital of the island, Fira. The 3D photographic reproductions of the murals of Akrotiri, in life size, are exhibited there.
The reproductions depict almost all of the impressive wall paintings found in the city of Akrotiri and are a unique opportunity to see them in their entirety. Petros M. Nomikos financed the construction of reproductions of the frescoes, which he then donated to the Thera Foundation ¨Petros M. Nomikos.
The Petros Nomikos Conference Center has created special galleries where the Copies are exhibited in the best possible way. They have been integrated into the environment tastefully and in a way that allows the visitor to imagine how the originals would have looked on the walls of the houses of the prehistoric city. A total of 41 copies of wall paintings are exhibited.
The result is highly realistic and allows scientists and the general public to enjoy works of art that are often kept in storage for security reasons.
