It is located in Kastro, a few meters away from the famous Paraportiani church and is housed in an old two-story shipowner's house. It includes six main rooms that house collections of old furniture, Byzantine icons, folk ceramics, old commemorative plates and decorative/historical items. It also has a large and impressive collection of embroideries and textiles, old keys, meters and stations, a nice collection of ship models, etc. There is also an important archive of manuscripts and forms, photographs, maps as well as a library. The Folklore Museum is open from April to October, opening hours 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. except Sunday.
