George Koutantos or Tsakalogiorgis, a self-taught artist who has been carving wood since the age of nine, has his workshop in Axos Mylopotamos, an hour from the cities of Rethymno and Heraklion, where you can admire handmade works of art made with passion, a hammer and a chisel.
Traditional folklore forms and themes performances inspired by nature, religious content, mythology, carved in wood collected from all over Crete, mainly dry trees or uprooted from natural disasters.
