(Museum of Traditional Life and Popular Culture of Crete LYCHNOSTATIS)
The Lychnostatis Museum is an open nature museum with spaces that take you on a journey through the folk culture and traditional life of Crete. One can visit the impressive representations of the rural and urban Cretan house and get to know the traditional activities of the Cretans up close by admiring the fabrika (oil press), the windmill, the mitato (shepherd's shelter), the threshing floor, the winepress, the house of bee and wax, the cauldron, the wood stove, but also the textile and vegetable dyeing workshops. By touring the wonderful outdoor spaces, he can get to know the special flora and mineral wealth of the island and observe the works of Cretan folk artists and the sculptures inspired by the natural environment of Crete.
