The War Museum of Chania is a local war history museum. It is housed in a former Italian barracks built in 1870 according to plans by the Italian architect Macuso. The historical relics and photographic material exhibit the participation of the Cretan Macedonian fighters (1903 - 1922) in the Balkan Wars (1912 - 13), the Asia Minor Campaign (1919 - 1922), the First and Second World Wars and during the Occupation ( 1941 - 45). The War Museum of Chania in the Tzampanaki Camp, is located at the junction of I. Sfakianaki and Tzanakaki streets next to the Municipal Garden. The building in which it is housed was an Italian Barracks and was built in 1870 according to the designs of the Italian Architect Maguso.

The War Museum of Athens, in the context of the fulfillment of its mission and in cooperation with local agencies in the city of Chania, established an annex, which was inaugurated in July 1995. The mission of the Museum is the collection, preservation, conservation and exhibition of military and other relics of the period mainly from 1821 to 1940, concerning the contribution of the Cretans to the Macedonian and Northern Continental Wars (1903 - 1922), the Balkan Wars (1912 - 13), the Asia Minor Campaign (1919 - 1922), the First and World War II, in the Battle of Crete and the National Resistance during the German Occupation (1941 - 45).
