In Perama Ioannina, at the entrance of the village, the Information and Promotion Center of Perama Ioannina Cave is housed. The "Anna Petroheilou" Exhibition & Visitor Reception Center includes an exhibition hall, a space where geological and paleontological findings from the Perama Cave are exhibited.
In the projection room of the Center, during its opening hours (from 09:00 to 16:00), the visitor has the opportunity to watch a twenty-minute documentary on the theme: "The World of Caves". The documentary, edited by a group of scientists from the Athens Paleoanthropology and Speleology Ephorate of the Ministry of Culture, refers to the creation and types of caves, their decoration, the paleontological and archaeological findings, the fauna as well as the relationship of people with the Caves.
From the excavations carried out in the cave came to light fossilized bones, teeth and skull of the cave bear (Ursus spelaeus) that lived thousands of years ago and today has disappeared. Also, the presence of the fox (Vulpes vulpes) and the ibex (Capra ibex) in the past was found in the cave. The exhibition of the Paleontological Museum is extremely interesting. It includes paleontological findings some of which are 240 million years old while the most recent ones are 60 thousand years old. Also among the exhibits you will see rocks minerals, semi-precious stones fossilized organisms, corals, from all over the world.
