The Old Fortress of Corfu hosts the historical archive of Corfu, the public library, services of the Ministry of Culture as well as the Byzantine Collection with sculptures and portable icons. The Byzantine Collection is housed in 2 rooms, to the right and left of the entrance to the fortress, which functioned as outposts and weapons stores. The Collection consists of approximately 40 exhibits, which are part of the Collection of the Asian Art Museum. It includes architectural members from Paleopolis and from other Byzantine temples, mosaics from the basilica of Paleopolis, plans and photographs of temples, wall paintings that were stoned from the church of Ag. Nikolaou Korakianas, as well as various portable icons.
