The Paleopolis Museum, housed in the mansion of Mon Repos, could be characterized as a timeless museum, due to the history of the building as well as the finds it houses. The purpose of the museum is to preserve and present to the visitor the cultural and natural heritage of the area of Paleopolis, while providing stimuli for study, research and reflection. It houses the exhibition of archaeological objects from excavations in the area of Paleopolis, in today's Kanoni of Corfu, covering the period from the Archaic to the Roman times. At the same time, however, an effort is being made to transfer to the Museum the climate and perception that the 19th century had about antiquity.
On the ground floor, nine rooms display objects related to the life and use of the building (such as documents, portraits and furniture), as well as the wider area of the estate in the 19th century (such as a collection of paintings depicting plants). On the first floor, finds brought to light by the excavations in the area of the ancient city are exhibited and are related to trade, public and private life and the cults of the ancient Corfu. It also hosts a photographic exhibition with snapshots from the excavation of the finds of the ancient city.
Periodic exhibitions are organized on the second floor of the Palaiopolis Museum building, while the space is also used for educational programs.
