The Byzantine museum of Corfu, also known as the Antivouniotissa museum, is housed in the holy church of Panagia Antivouniotissa, which is one of the oldest ecclesiastical monuments of the city. The church is dedicated to the Most Holy Theotokos Kyra Antivouniotissa and dates from the 15th century. The architectural structure of the church is of particular interest, as it is a typical example of a Corfu church of the Byzantine period, as well as the interior decoration and especially the collections of Christian art that it houses.
In the museum area, approximately ninety images dating from the 15th to the 19th century are exhibited and are representative of the Heptanese and Cretan schools.
