It is the first and only Volcanological Museum that exists in Greece. It was created by the Municipality of Nisyros in collaboration with the AUTH, the IGME and the Aegean Ministry and is located in Nikia. The state-of-the-art museum has, in addition to exhibitions, event spaces and is open all year round. The museum space is extremely interesting and at the same time impressive. The colors refer to the volcano, while the lighting is evocative.
At the same time, in addition to the Volcanological Museum, there is a volcanic observatory in Emporios, which is fed on a 24-hour basis with data from the active volcanoes. In addition, Nisyros itself is an open-air geological museum with the impressive landforms presented by its rocks.
