The Monastery of Agios Nikolaos is built at Pau, 2 km southwest of Argalasti, and covers an area of 600 acres. It has been granted until 2084 to the University of Thessaly for the operation of a Cultural-Conference Center. The Monastery was founded in 1732 and was destroyed by the Turks in 1831. The monastery area is walled and includes in the center of the large courtyard the church of Agios Nikolaos and surrounding stone two-story buildings with arches. The stone church has a vaulted ceiling, a narthex with frescoes, a white iconostasis and frescoes of the 18th century, a marble floor with a five-pointed star. The marble lintel bears an inscription with the year 1778. The temple celebrates on December 6.
